TRANSFORMATION SHOW AT GEORGIA PERIMETER COLLEGE

WELL, after all our hard work we are going to hang our show on Monday!!!!! This is the first time this space has been utilized for art. I am very excited about this. I have completed 24 pieces for this show. 12 are on canvas and 12 are framed. All are multi-layered mixed media. I used everything from ink, pencils, pens, acrylic paints, salt, tea, and coffee. The Atlanta Collage Society will be showing at the Highland Inn Ballroom from September 29th through October 24th, 2008. Works by Vickie Martin, Lance Carlson and Jacqueline Allison will be on display. Please join us for the opening reception on October 4th from 7pm to 9pm. A portion of "reception night" sales will benefit the Atlanta Humane Society.

UPCOMING OPPORTUNITIES TO SEE THE WORK OF VICKIE MARTIN

I have a very busy month coming up for October, but that gives everyone plenty of opportunities to see my work. I will be exhibiting my entire series "Rhythm of the Universe" at the Dunwoody Location of the Georgia Perimeter College. The reception will be October 22 5-7p.
I am also taking part of the Oakhurst Festival on 10/11, 10A-7P.

Artist for Africa at the Atlanta Artists Center

Emerging Atlanta based artists including Sara Hendrix, Lance Carlson, Lucious, Charlotte Webb, Elsie DiNardo Dresch, Clara Blalock and Martha Bator, will be offering their works to the public and donating all proceeds to the African Children's Art Project in Kenya.

Atlanta in 1980

This started out as a collage. I referenced a photograph of the skyline of Atlanta in approximately 1980. Most of the collage material of the skyline is references to Atlanta, photographs of the Fox Theater, images from Gone with the Wind, Coca-Cola, text from Atlanta history books, etc. When I was happy with the skyline, I began painting over it, and scraping the paint off. You will see different collaged pieces peeking out everytime you look at it. I hope to continue this series later this year!

LANCE CARLSON AND VICKIE MARTIN FEATURED

Lance Carlson and Vickie Martin will have work featured in the annual fundraising event  for the Atlanta chapter of the Women in Radio and Television organization.    The event will be held April 28th at the Atlanta Botanical Garden!

CONGRATULATIONS TO VICKIE!!!!!

Vickie Martin has won the Merit Award for the Dogwood Show at the Atlanta Artist's Center.   Her piece was chosen as one of the top three from a field of 297 submissions!   Reception will be April 12, 6-8p.   The AAC is located on Grandview Avenue in Buckhead

Her work will also appear in the show:   GEORGIA ARTISTS, a juried exhibit, which will be at the Abernathy Arts Center, located on 254 Johnson Ferry Road, Atlanta.   Opening reception is April 11, 630-830p.
